We went to Minter Gardens on Wednesday Aug 21.
The flowers where so vibrant.Even looking through greenery was beautiful.
This man pretended to be pruning the trees.
Every corner we turned there was another Photo-op.
Here we did see a curtain of water coming down.
The roses were awesome.
Dhalia's
These 2 ladies were all decked out in their finery.
Another beautiful sight.
Those red pots looked so nice in this spot.
I could put another 50 pictures in here. Have to keep some surprises for the greeting cards too.
Then after this we ate a nice lunch in the deli on the grounds. The sad thing is that the Gardens will close the gates in October and they will not be opened up again next year.

August so far has been a delightful month.
We had the fair here in Lynden August 12 through 17. I always enjoy the building with the quilts, hobbies and art. Also sitting in the Grandstand and see the horse show. They put on a great show year after year.
The last few years I volunteer with a friend for four hours in the lost and found place where also is the first aid unit and mothers with babies who need some privacy.
This year I did something what I never did before in my life. Sitting in a booth with my sister and selling some jam, lotion, soap, scones and raffle tickets for a quilt. The proceeds go all to New Way Ministries and Great Expectation. Those places help single Mom's and expecting Mom's who have no place else to go. They help to get them on their feet again. It is such a worthy cause. I always would like to work in a booth. So I can take that of my 'bucket list'. Hopefully we can do it next year again.
The Lynden Fair is a very clean fair. Thanks to those hard working cleaning picker upper people. I happen to know one of them and if you see her in town just thank her for all the hard work they do. I will put a picture up from her. She said I could.

The first wedding in the family.
Our first grandson got married on July 19 to a very lovely girl. I am very happy and thankful that I may call her my grand-daughter. Here they were listening to the grand and humorous speech his sister delivered.
Marissa doing her famous speech. You rock my girl.
Emery the flower-girl. I am so proud of her.

Retreat
2013
January 11 & 12 @ Cedar Springs.
O, the joy of spending 48 hours with a group of women.
There was laughter, there were tears and then the standing around in the coffee corner and by the snack table full of goodies. CHOCOLATE!!! It was good. Also, the meals were delicious.
The best part of the retreat was listening to the stories of women from our church.
Telling about loosing a Dad by the age of 12, another loosing her Mom being 13. Having a son who is disabled through MS. Emigrating and being held at Ellis Island and not being able to speak English. The tears and joy of adoption. Husbands who quit their jobs by going back to school to become a Minister or Doctor. Caring for and loosing a special need child. Overcome some other decease and loosing a husband who by helping some one contracted HIV.
Through all those stories God's faithfulness was so evident.
I felt blessed by all of those who told their stories and hear of their struggles. I also was blessed by telling mine. It was not easy to do it, but to tell of God's faithfulness and how much He loves us, gave me the assurance again that He is always with us.
Hope I can get an picture in here from the grounds of Cedar Springs. No matter what time of the year it is always beautiful there.
