A day on the water.
On August 23 we did a whale watching cruise. I went with 3 other lovely ladies from our 'Water Lilies' exercising group. We left Bellingham around 9.30 in the morning. So we cruised the waters of the San Juan Islands and keeping our eyes out for those big giant Orca whales. In the mean time we played a game of Quiddler. At noon we were served a delicious lunch. The staff served us salmon, chicken, biscuits, coleslaw, pasta salad and brownies. Still no whales. Around 1.30 we could go of the boat in Friday Harbor for two hours.
This totem pole was there. I don't know the meaning of it.
Cruising along.
These Sea lions were taking their nap or catching the warm sun on their bodies. At least we did see some sea creatures.
This boat belongs to the Johnson and Johnson family. Our boat had to deliver a part to them. There was some mechanical problem with the boat.
Here we past a lovely old light house.
Not being able to have seen whales yet, I took a picture of this cute dolphin in Friday Harbor.
The first fall colors are coming.
Then at 3.30 we left Friday Harbor again and they tried to find whales on the way back. That day the whales were just not in the area. They told us that they were spotted around the west side of Vancouver Island. So every one on the boat got a voucher for half price the next time. No expiration date. It still was a wonderful day to spent with friends and to be on the water.
At least you got a voucher...the only thing I got when I took my whale watching cruise was SEASICK!
